Is there a charge for the appraisal of a work of art?

A simple oral opinion or one based on a photograph is always free. Please note, however, that the information and/or estimated values given orally or by return e-mail by Cabinet Turquin can in no way be considered as expert opinion for which it is legally responsible.

Our fees for a written appraisal for the purpose of division or insurance are 2% of the amount of the estimate (excluding tax, with a minimum of 500 euros and a maximum of 5 000 euros). This certificate of appraisal engages the responsibility of Cabinet Turquin.

You can ask us for an opinion by filling in the form: Going to the page "REQUEST AN APPRAISAL"

How can I deliver a painting to your offices?

You can drop off your painting from Monday to Friday from 9am to 6pm. A member of Cabinet Turquin will welcome you and give you a receipt. You can park in the courtyard of the building (it’s easiest to go down the rue de Louvois on the right in order to enter the courtyard).

If you wish to meet with one of our experts when dropping off your painting, it is necessary to make an appointment beforehand by calling 01.47.03.48.78.

If you are unable to transport your painting, please contact us by email at eric.turquin@turquin.fr or by phone. We work with a network of professional art shippers and can provide you with their contact information. We can also direct you to the most appropriate auction house or the one closest to your home.

Do I have to insure my painting in view of leaving it with Cabinet Turquin for appraisal? Is there a charge for the storage of my painting?

We insure the works of art that you entrust to us free of charge for the duration of their stay on the rue Sainte-Anne. Our premises are equipped with an appropriate security system.

When the work is deposited, we will provide you or your shipper with a receipt. This receipt only attests to the deposit of your work in our premises.

There are no storage fees during the appraisal.

How long does it take for Cabinet Turquin to appraise a work?

The duration is variable. It takes a minimum of one week for the painting to be seen by all the experts during the weekly sorting session, but this time may be extended if the painting needs to be seen by other specialists or if it requires additional research and analysis. We will keep you informed as the research progresses.

Am I obliged to sell my painting at auction after an appraisal done by Cabinet Turquin?

Following the opinion or the estimate delivered by Cabinet Turquin, you are free to recover your painting or to sell it at auction. If you wish to sell it, we will recommend an auctioneer from among our partners, the one we judge to be the most suitable to best defend your work at auction.

If I decide to entrust my painting to one of your partners, what are the formalities?

After having suggested an auction house and a date of sale, together we will set the reserve price and the amount of the vendors' fees, after which we will contact the auction house. The auction house will send you a sales agreement confirming your intention to sell, which you will have to sign and return to them before the sale.

What happens after the auction?

We will contact you after the sale to let you know the outcome of the auction.  When your work is sold, the auctioneer will send you the payment directly, usually within forty days.

If your work has not found a buyer, you can choose to take it back (free of charge) or to offer it for a future sale. If you decide to take it back, we can arrange for it to be returned to Rue Sainte-Anne so that you can pick it up.
